17 Jan French-Indian Butter Chicken with Rice Pilaf
So a friend of mine popular fashion blogger Nupur (follow her on Crispy Corner) suggested I put my culinary skills to test by participating in this competition called Eat List Star. I am not the best under pressure but I decided to give it a shot. So here is what I did for my first online challenge – French rice pilaf served hot with classic Indian favorite – Butter Chicken in creamy tomato sauce.
Butter chicken is a classic Indian dish which has a strong Mughlai influence as it popularized under the Mughal rule in India. It is prepared by slowly simmering chicken in a creamy tomato sauce finished with heavy cream to give it that velvety texture. I gave the dish a French twist by preparing the sauce French style, using the brownings from chicken bones and served it together with French rice pilaf. The rice pilaf, again, had an Indian twist with the addition of star anise, bayleaf and some special Indian herbs. Fusion food at its best!
I do not know what is gonna come of this competition but that is for later, for now tis’ the time to dig in!
