24 Feb Paddy Hills Café, Fusion Brunch
Paddy Hills is the new kid on the block, right where Lim Seng Lee Duck Rice used to be. Everyone working in the area knew where the famous Buona Vista Duck Rice shop was, Paddy Hills occupying that space has some giant shoes to fill.
This Australian-Japanese themed Café is great for a brunch. We went there on a Sunday and found it seriously packed. We waited for about half hour before we could find a table. Maybe not the best place to go after a morning tennis session when you’re literally famished and then you have to wait and see other people gorge on the impeccably presented food! No wonder this place is the one of the most Instagrammable brunch places in the city!
Finally after we got our seat we scoured the menu for what seemed most appealing.
I’d recommend ordering Berry Ricotta Hotcakes ($19) or Orange Ricotta Pillows ($18) if you’re there for breakfast or brunch and looking for innovative pancakes. I ordered Orange Ricotta Pillows and must say I wasn’t disappointed or left dissatisfied. The serving was great and the texture was really soft and fluffy just as they have named it!
My friend ordered the berry hotcakes and that was equally delicious. While their food is great to taste and to look at, their coffee is quite good too. After trying some seriously great coffee in Australia, I rarely find the same kick in the tiny coffee mugs here in Singapore, but Paddy Hills does decent coffee, no complaints. I do think the price is a bit on the high side but after a satisfying meal you tend to forgive a few dollars.
So here’s my final rating.
